David Pérez-Rey has a PhD in Computer Science by Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM), Spain. He has been a visitor researcher at Rutgers University (USA) (2006), University of Utah (USA) (2008) and PHILIPS Research Europe (Holland) (2014). In 2007 he was a collaborator professor at Universidad Francisco de Vitoria, and since 2008 he is at the Departamento de Inteligencia Artificial, Facultad de Informatica at UPM, where he is currently an Associate Professor.
He has been a member of the Biomedical Informatics Group at UPM from 2003. His research interests are mainly focused on clinical research informatics, biomedical interoperability standards, database integration and preprocessing, KDD and information retrieval in biomedicine. He has been author and co-author of research papers in journals such as Journal of Biomedical Informatics, Methods of Information in Medicine or Computers in Biology and Medicine among others. He has participated in EU research projects since 2003 and in recent years he was involved in INTEGRATE: Driving Excellence in Integrative Cancer and EURECA: Enabling information re-use by linking clinical Research and Care. He is currently collaborating with the development of the InSite Platform: Building a community dedicated to accelerating clinical research through Real World Data in a secure & trustworthy way.
